After dropping her first two singles to critical acclaim, Addison Rae is proving she’s just not a TikTok phenom, but a full-blown pop contender.
Addison Rae in the music industry, releasing music over the last couple months: “Diet Pepsi” breaking into the Hot 100 and “Aquamarine” showcasing her evolving sound, her next two songs, “High Fashion” and “Headphones On,” are both experimental and life changing. Album released June 6th, 2025, with performances happening all over the world and already co-signed by plenty of artists, Addison is here to stay.
Teasing the song in October, Rae put the phone number on the website to call, giving fans a snippet with lyrics saying, “I don’t need your drugs / I’d rather get high fashion.” The song was also teased in a Rolling Stone February 2025 cover story, revealing that she was working on her debut album and soon releasing the song as well. The official teaser was shown on February 10, 2025, announcing the release date being the 14th, Valentine’s Day. The cover art was later revealed on the 12th. This song had mixed reactions from critics as it was an electropop song. This was her best single from the album, but others can say otherwise. This song did not land on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Later, in March, Rae teased the next single, “Headphones On,” in an Instagram post from the set of the music video. In early April, she teased lyrics from the song, and the video through Spotify. Revealing the official teaser on the 14th, then the cover on the 15th, the song was released on the 18th. Fun fact, Addison was sick during the time she recorded the song. Critics loved this song, comparing it to Madonna. It made its debut on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 87. I really enjoyed this song and with its significant lyrics, I could relate to it and keep relistening.
Additionally, Rae made her Coachella debut, joining Arca for a remix of “Aquamarine” called “Aquamarine / Arcamarine,” a remixed track of the original. During the performance, she teased the release date of her album on her revealing outfit. Not my cup of tea, but after a few listens, I got the hang of it.
Overall, the belief is that Addison will soon be known as a legend in the music industry. Being invited to join the Recording Academy Class by the GRAMMYs right after her debut album is absolutely phenomenal. Whether or not you like Addison, her impact will be shown in history books, and she’ll soon show up in Guinness Record Books, becoming a record-breaker.
