Before the game started, the team went into the varsity locker room to talk about strategy and lineup.
The Varsity Volleyball team played their second home game against Rochester on September 15th.
“When the score got close, I kept the mindset of staying positive and focused,” sophomore Brooklyn Dudde said. “I reminded myself not to stress about the score but to play my part and trust my team. That mindset helped me stay calm, play better, and not give up when things got tough.”
Mindset can play a huge role in the game of volleyball especially since it is a team sport, and players’ attitudes may come off on each other. Having a good mindset can affect how one plays as an individual as well.
“One thing that our team could have improved on would definitely be making our serves and having better communication,” sophomore Addison Keller said. “Making a few more of our serves could have given us more chances to score more points and having better communication would have helped us to know whose ball is whose and where to try to pass the ball to.”
Making a few preventable mistakes can really affect a game’s outcome and how many points are scored. This game was very close for everyone playing and watching.
“It was exciting to see the game go into a fifth set,” sophomore Jaydon Rziemkowski said. “The score was close throughout the entire game, and it was a very competitive match.”
Even though they lost, they still huddled up and reflected on the night as a team.
