Big water bottles may be trending, but they raise questions about table manners.
Big water bottles are showing up at dinner tables, but not everyone thinks they fit. Some see them as convenient, while others say they break table manners.
“I think having big water bottles like Stanley’s are a distraction to bring to the dinner table,” senior Jaclyn Dudde said. “My mom hates when anybody in my family does that because it doesn’t look classy to her.”
While some see large water bottles as a distraction, others view them as harmless and are just trying to stay hydrated. Because more people know how important it is to stay hydrated, many think it’s easier to have a big water bottle nearby instead of getting up to refill small cups all the time.
“I like to bring my Stanley to the dinner table with me, ” freshman Emily Borland said. “Then, I don’t have to get up while I’m eating to refill my cup while we are eating.”
Many people question if it is acceptable to bring big water bottles to the dinner table for family dinner. This debate often shows how new ways of doing things don’t always fit with old rules and traditions.
“I don’t mind having them there,” freshman Anthony Pace said. “It’s just a water bottle, and it helps people stay hydrated. It doesn’t matter what kind of cup your drink is in for the dinner table.”
Some people think big water bottles are useful, while others don’t like them at the table. As the trend of big water bottles rises, many questions are raised about their role at the dinner table.
