Many high school students participate in extracurricular activities to enhance their school experience and build lasting memories.
Within the crowds at school, tight-knit groups of friends often form through shared extracurriculars, helping students connect on a deeper level.
“It gave me something to look forward to and more motivation to do better in school,” 2025 graduate Jaden House said. “If my team holds a high-grade point average, I’d feel the need to do the same.”
Extracurricular activities not only offer a sense of community but also encourage academic performance. For House, his involvement in the swim team boosts his motivation both socially and academically.
“Extracurriculars have improved my high school experience greatly,” senior Kellen Struck said. “Through tennis and clubs, I have made many new friends and connections that helped me get through high school. Whenever I needed help, or just something to do, I knew I could count on those that I have met in my extracurriculars.”
Struck’s experience highlights how extracurriculars foster important friendships. His participation in tennis and clubs has provided a support network throughout high school.
“Sports have made my time at Ford really fun and met tons of people,” senior Mya Sebastian said. “Sports have also improved my confidence and made me more competitive.”
Overall, extracurricular activities play a significant role in shaping high school students’ experiences, offering both social and academic benefits. For many, these activities provide meaningful memories and lasting connections.
