The Pistons long rebuild may finally be coming to an end as they head into the playoffs after not seeing the postseason since 2019 and not winning a playoff game since 2008.
After their worst season in franchise history, the Pistons have tripled their win total and made it to the playoffs, where they will face the New York Knicks.
“It’s a great matchup,” 2025 graduate Royce Haviland said. “They played great defense and moved the ball well in Game 1. We also won the season series against them in the regular season. We just need to hold strong in the fourth quarter.”
If the Pistons make it past the Knicks, there’s a real possibility that guard Jaden Ivey could return to action—something they’ve been hoping for since he sustained a broken fibula in a New Year’s Day game against the Orlando Magic.
“He’s going to be great for the Pistons’ backcourt,” 2025 graduate Xavier Schultz said. “Especially on the defensive side. He’s a great defender, and he will help shut down opposing backcourt players.”
In addition to the potential return of Jaden Ivey, fans are eager to see who will perform the best during the Piston playoff run. More specifically, they want to see some of the younger players rise to the occasion.
“I would like to see Ron Holland step up,” 2025 graduate Carson Sturn said. “If he performs well during the playoffs, that would be a good sign for the Pistons’ future.”
After such a remarkable season, it remains to be seen if the Pistons can pull off an upset against the Knicks to continue their playoff run.
