From the court to the field, after a long day, Tatyana catches no break coming home just to leave for work.
Tatyana Ramey is a scholar student who balances sports, clubs, and jobs while keeping her grades and head high.
“My favorite part of playing sports is being a part of a team,” senior Tatyana Ramey said. “Playing basketball and track allows me to talk to all different types of people and is the reason I have made some life-long friends.”
Sports offer more than just exercise for Tatyana. They’re a social outlet and a source of lifelong connections. Because of her packed schedule, time on the court or field is a chance to recharge with friends and teammates.
“Getting a job was all because I needed money,” Ramey said. “I wanted to learn how to be financially responsible but also wanted to be able to buy myself a car for my senior year not only to drive myself to school, but to drive myself anywhere I want to go.”
Her desire for financial independence and responsibility at a young age sets her apart. Also, the commitment to saving up for her own car shows a maturity that not all high school students develop so early.
“I take school very seriously because I knew ever since I was a little kid I wanted to be a nurse,” Ramey said. “To go into the medical field, you need to have pretty perfect grades, which is definitely stressful at times, but I do it for my future.”
When the clock finally strikes 9 P.M., Ramey wastes no time leaving her job. It’s only then, after a day packed with classes, practices, and shifts, that she can head home to rest until it all begins again tomorrow.
