AP Bio students take a photo every Friday before class ends with Mr. Pytel, creating a new AP Biology tradition. Every photo has a fun caption about the day or the week’s experience in AP Biology.
“We started taking photos every Friday with Mr. Pytel because on the first week of school, we took a photo with Mr. Pytel at the end of the week, and he made a joke about taking a photo every Friday until we’re crying in the photo because the class is so difficult,” 2025 graduate Leyla Kljajic said. “So, we’ve taken one every week since then. Looking back, it makes me realize I didn’t think about how short senior year would be, and I’m just glad I have something to look back on.”
The photo tradition is just one of the ways these seniors are making the most of their final year. For many, it’s a fun way to bond with classmates and make memories, but for others, it’s about the challenges they face in the classroom. No matter the approach, everyone is finding a way to make these last months meaningful.
“My favorite thing about AP Biology is getting to challenge myself with tough material while also having fun collaborating with my peers,” 2025 graduate Jenna Walters said. “I’ve tried to make the most out of the class by trying my best, but understanding that it is a tough class, and I’m not going to get 100% on everything.”
While some students focus on capturing memories outside of class, others are embracing the academic challenges that come with senior year. For many, it’s the perfect balance of hard work and enjoyment. As the end of the year draws near, students are pushing themselves to finish strong while savoring the last moments with their peers.
“I’m looking forward to the chick lab because I think it’ll be a fun, hands on activity, and it’ll be nice to finally get away from all the notes,” 2025 graduate Emma Nicholson said. “I plan on spending these last days left of senior year preparing for my AP tests and spending as much time making memories as I can.”
