The crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, and the laughter shared between teammates: these three seniors will forever hear the echoes of their softball journey.
Softball has been more than just a sport—it’s been a journey of growth, camaraderie, and self-discovery. Over the past four years, these seniors have faced challenges, celebrated victories, and built relationships that will last far beyond high school. Now, in their final season, they reflect on the impact the game has had on who they are today.
“I would describe my bond with my teammates like a family or sibling bond; we have bad moments, but in the end, we are always there for each other, and I love them all like my family” 2025 graduate Grace Polega said. “My team has played a role outside of softball because it has given me people who I trust, who will be there for me when I need them, and I can rely on them to pick me up if I’m down.”
While one senior found strength in the support of her teammates, another grew through the challenges she faced on the field. A tough hitting slump tested her confidence and limited her playing time—but it didn’t break her spirit. Instead, it taught her that growth takes grit.
“My biggest challenge was getting in a hitting slump my junior year and not playing the last few important games–I overcame this by gaining more confidence in myself and working hard every day to become better” 2025 graduate Emily Leusby said. “A lesson it has taught me is to never give up, and when you put the effort in, the progress pays off.”
As one senior overcame setbacks, another focused on how the sport helped her prepare for life beyond high school. The lessons learned between practices and games went far beyond the scoreboard. Communication, teamwork, and time management became skills she’ll carry into the future.
“I think playing softball has prepared me for life after high school by teaching me how to communicate and work with others as a team, and it has also taught me time management and how to handle multiple things at once” 2025 graduate Jenna Walter said. “I definitely see myself staying involved with the sport as I will still be supporting all my friends and family that play, and I also hope to coach younger girls in the future.”
As their final season wraps up, these seniors leave behind more than a game—they leave behind a part of themselves. They take with them the friendships, the lessons, and a love for softball that will stay with them for years to come.
