As the hot flames burst into the air, the California fires are happening fast and dangerously. It is affecting many students’ travel plans.
Students are scurrying to find new travel plans because of the fires in California.
“I had travel plans to fly to California next month during winter break,” junior Jeslyn Disho said. “The airlines are now saying they are extending travel waivers for the time being because of what’s happening there now.”
Now, since the fires have happened, families are stressing their travel plans for winter break February 15-23. According to USA Today, they are saying new places to go to instead could be Disney World, Cruises, or anywhere away from California.
“Some of my family lives in Los Angeles right where the fires are,” junior Aeriana Halcomb said, “They have been telling me and my siblings how dangerous the fires got so quickly.”
The number of students worried for their family and friends in the middle of the LA fires is immaculate, especially when these fires spread. According to MSN News, the fires have burned over 29,080 acres of land and have forced over 100,000 residents to evacuate.
“The fires spreading quickly are scaring me,” junior Yechan Kim said. “I have never seen something so strange of how they randomly started.”
The fires are affecting many students’ travel plans going to California, as the hot flames burst into the air.
