What was once a hospital in Southwest Detroit is now acquired by Detroit City FC to be made into the pitch for the 2027 season.
“I’d be super excited for a soccer specific stadium since as a player I would love to go and watch professional matches being held there,” senior Kayla McPherson said. “It also makes me excited at the fact that there is a growing popularity with soccer.”

“I’ve been watching soccer since I was six with my mom, senior Kayleigh Davis said. “I love to watch the USA women’s team, so I’m happy to see that soccer is finally getting the recognition it deserves.”
There are not many details yet about the stadium. Details like the size or the expenses are yet to be revealed. Many fans are excited for the opportunity to watch the teams they are rooting for.
“I’m excited that now we will actually have a soccer stadium near us, junior Angelina Miko said. “I would love to watch Christian Plusik play. Watching both teams play their hearts out while being with friends at the game will be fun.”
The fans are waiting in desperation, the architects are designing, and the constructors are building. All are thinking about the pitch, waiting for that first whistle, or first cleat on the brand new terf.
