The 128th year of the summer Olympics is going to happen in Paris, starting July 26-August 11.
The Olympics only happen every four years. Some people even have little parties to watch the Olympics happen with their friends and family together.
“I’m looking forward to watching swimming and gymnastics in the Olympics,” sophomore Sarah Borland said. “It gets exciting and thrilling when scores are close.”
As the summer Olympics are coming up, that means many people and their families have plans to see all of the competition of the athletes involved from every country.
“Watching the summer Olympics every four years is a tradition of my family,” sophomore Jaclyn Dudde said. “We like watching each and every sport happen and see the competition between each athlete.”
This is Paris’s third time having the summer Olympics. Each of the three times they have had the Olympics, it costs around 10.7 billion euros for the French economy and creates more than 250,000 jobs for people to take. The games they put on also have a budget of 6.8 million euros, which is low compared to previous Olympics.
“I would maybe go to see the summer Olympics at least once in my life,” senior Melodie Ittner said. “It would be a very cool once in a lifetime experience.”
