Pearls, embroidery, and fancy shoes; the Met Gala has shown itself for 2024. Celebrity fashion is prevalent yet again with the Met Gala 2024. Many beloved celebrities are on people’s TVs, with so many different opinions being formed. These opinions include the overall theme, quality, and attraction of the outfits.
“I loved it so much,” sophomore Natalie Ghazala said. “This year it was actually good, all the outfits were cute and actually on theme, or at least most of them were. Some people had really ugly outfits, or outfits that didn’t really match the theme, like Lizzo. Other than that, the outfits and the theme this year were so much better than the other themes in the past.”
The theme of the Met Gala this year was the “Garden of Time.” Celebrities’ outfits were themed on flowers, insects or animals usually seen at gardens, or the scenery of a garden itself. This now ties into which outfits were extremely likable, or extravagant, for this year’s Gala.
“I liked Lana Del Rey’s because it was really unique and just iconic, and Tyla’s because it showed off her snatched waist,” sophomore Ketan Oza said. “I also really liked her purse because it was really cute. Although, I think Cardi B’s was just too much.”
Some famous celebrities at the Gala this year were Zendaya, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Camila Cabello, and Kylie Jenner. Watchers looked forward to seeing their favorites on screen, high hopes for what they had come up with this year. Whether they are good or bad, people have different opinions on celebrities’ outfits, and even compare them to previous years.
“I think this year’s Met Gala theme went very well, and everyone looked very nice,” senior Deandre’ Murray said. “Overall, I think everyone followed the theme very well. Even though it wasn’t my favorite one, it was still very good, and I think this theme did very well compared to the past themes. For example, like 2019’s theme, ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion,’ I think this theme was one of my favorites, as I really enjoyed how big and unique the looks were.”
