Flowers, Earth Day, Fun, an activity of the Henry Ford II Environmental Club.
The Henry Ford II Environmental Club is planting a garden on Earth Day outside the school’s forum. It will be a flower garden, and it’s the first activity being done by the newly formed Environmental Club. It will take place on Earth Day and will help the schools look. The area of The Forum is something that people first see when they enter the school’s parking lot, it’s being put there in hope to give a more attractive look to the school when people arrive. It will be placed in between the doors to make sure that people will not stop on the flowers and plants.
“I’m most excited to see how the garden makes the school’s curb appeal look, ” sophomore Vanessa Xhemollari said. “I want it to look nice and see people enjoying the garden.”
The forum area is one of the first areas that people see when they enter the school’s parking lot. Right now, the school lacks curb appeal, there’s nothing that stands out looking at the school for the first time. Having a garden would vastly improve how the schools curb appeal, and it would really help.
“My favorite part about gardening is seeing how it turns out,” junior Alison Hare said. “I think that the actual gardening is fun, but seeing the result is the best part. It takes effort to take care of a garden and you want to make sure you get a good result out of the work you put in.”
Gardening is a process, and it can’t have results in just one day. It’s a hobby for many and something that can end with gorgeous results. It takes time and skill to figure out how to properly have a good, lasting garden.
“Over the summer, I will go to help maintain the garden,” junior Vianca Villarin said. “When I’m not able to, the club will have people volunteer to maintain the garden and make sure it’s going well. Next year, I hope to have lots more events and more participation in events. I want to do this by finding ways for increased funding so we’re able to have more club activities.”
The Environmental Club is a new club, this is going to be one of the first activities that they do. A garden is a part of beautifying the school and helping the planet for Earth Day. It’s a vital part of any property to have planting and gardening.
