After being beat in the first two games in the series earlier in the week Ford needed a great game from Hood to keep their hopes alive for a share of the division championship. The Falcons showed some resiliency and trounced on the Crusaders early in the game dwindling their confidence and avoided the three game sweep.

The low 60s weather was just fine junior Nolan Hood from Henry Ford II as he pitched the outing of his life. When the final out of the 8-0 No-Hitter victory plummeted from the light blue, and cloudy sky into senior first baseman Matt Domke’s glove, Domke pocketed the ball and celebrated with the kids from the dugout that hopped over the fence, and the players on the field as they sprinted over to be with their teammate. Hood struck out six, and allowed only one two out walk in the bottom of the third. He completed the effort only tallying 69 pitches.

“Throughout the game I was just really relaxed and wasn’t thinking about the situation. I was focussed on hitting my spots and getting every out one by one,” Hood said. “It’s a surreal feeling and i’ll enjoy it for a little bit, but next week it’s back to work, I’m going to stay focused, and help the team as much as possible against GPN.”

In the batter’s box the Falcons scored four runs in the first and fourth innings. They were led by Domke who had a double, and two more hits with one RBI, junior centerfielder Colin Cornwell added three hits and an RBI, junior DH Dawoud Almathrahi also recorded two hits, an RBI, and also scored once, senior Spencer Carson also racked up two hits and two RBIs.

“It was a must win game, and I was glad we played very well as a team. I was proud of our effort,” Head Coach Ryan Joseph said. Joseph’s Falcons approach their final regular season series against Grosse Pointe North needing to win all three games to win the outright MAC White division championship.
