Tips To Avoid Stress this Midterm Season

The season of stress awaits as we return to school from a 10-day break. Just a few weeks after we return there are six exams waiting, but don’t fret, there are great ways to study before the stress completely eats you alive.

Flashcards
An oldie but a goodie. Notecards are inexpensive, available at target, dollar stores, or any supply store. Writing things down has been proven to help people remember facts, and if you use notecards you can flip through later to help get information down. If writing things down takes too much time or isn’t your style, there are different free websites you can use to achieve the same results. Quizlet has learning features, flashcards, and matching games. Memrise is best for vocab, which gives you definitions while you learn the words.

Practice Tests
Finding practice tests online is not a difficult task. If you struggle with multiple choice tests these can help you narrow down answers and try to figure out how to work on your skills. If there aren’t practice tests you can find sample worksheets with questions and answers on topics you need help with.

Online Videos
If you struggle with math, Khan Academy has videos on topics regarding math, ranging anywhere from geometry to calculus. If you struggle with history, economics, or almost any other subject, there might be a crash course series available for to watch. There are over 20 topics explored on the free YouTube channel, so a great place to start might be there.

Tutor
If you need help with a subject, talk to a teacher about someone who may be able to help you. They can receive National Honor Society hours, and you’ll understand the subjects better. They may be able to put it into simpler terms for you.

What Do Goats, Horses, Snakes, and Dragons have to do with Studying?

Chinese Zodiac signs are put on a 12 year cycle of many animal pictures that represent your birth year. Here’s what your Chinese Zodiac sign says about your study habits.

Goats are shy, kind hearted, tough and don’t care about status. Goats are creative and are better at perfecting one skill rather than many. Goats don’t want to be the center of attention. They would rather work in a group with a Horse.

2002-Horse:

Horses are energetic, witty, and love to take center stage in every part of life. Horses love projects were they can lead a team, make decisions, and communicate with others. Horses-be more confident! More can be achieved from working hard and not taking shortcuts.

Snakes are self-reliant, intelligent and materialistic. Snakes are good at communicating, but don’t like to talk a lot. Once a snake sets a goal, they are determined to fix it and hate to fail. Snakes often bounce from different activities and are easily bored.
